Art Video Game Reflection

Technical
I changed the fonts and layout of the menus and changed the background and card faces (front and back).

Idea
My original idea was to make it a flappy bird game but I couldn't change the "bird" and have the game work so I made it a memory game instead.

Influences
I had no influences from any artists to make the game.

Composition
I put a darker colour of some of the titles so they would stand out more and catch the readers attention more.

Motivation
I enjoy fishing so I wanted to do my game on over-fishing so other people will be able to enjoy fishing in later generations.

Critical Assessment
With additional time I would have inserted a URL to some various websites that have information about over-fishing and how it will affect our world.

Art Video Game: Brainstorming

Themes

Deforestation - A chainsaw could be used to represent this problem. This is a problem because our forests are natural sinks of carbon dioxide and produce fresh oxygen, also they help in regulating temperature.

Over-fishing - A fish could be used to represent this problem. This is a problem because if we constantly over-fish there will be hardly any fish left for people to catch. Also it will destroy the food chains in the locations where they are over fished because there would be other creatures that need that fish in order to survive.

Our First Nations - A totem could be used to represent this problem. This is a problem because our First Nations people are being neglected. They take care of the Earth better than many of us do today. They take what they need not what they want. 


The theme I am most interested in from above is Over-fishing because, I enjoy fishing with my brothers and if all of the fish get over-fished there won't be many fish left for other generations to catch them. Fishing can teach people patience and how to be quite for varying periods of time.

My plan to make this game is to have it styled like Flappy Bird, but instead of a bird it will be a fish swimming through the ocean avoiding the fishing nets above and the rocks below. The font I will use will have to "flow" like how waves flow across the ocean. The instruction/home screen will have a link to a website to learn more about over-fishing and it will show the title of the game and how to play it. The lose screen will say something like "Congratulations, you avoided __ fishing nets before you got caught" and it would have a button if you wanted to play again. The background will be underwater with a few fish in the background.

Art Movie Reflection

Technical
I used Adobe Premier Pro to make the video and also a few website to get some of the clips.

Concept
The concept of the video was that the baby was in peril, but the Angel couldn't do anything but watch  since it was made of stone. Later the father of the child decided to leave town and went insane with the loss of his child, eventually blowing up the factory he was working at, leaving his wife alone.

Influences
I had no influences to make the video.

Motivation
My motivation was to try and show a story without just completely giving it away.

Critical Assessment
What surprised me the most was how short 1 minute really is, I wanted to add more but if I did the video would have been over the time limit.

How is Hero an Art Movie?


  1. One way that the movie Hero is an art movie is because it does not have a straight forward beginning, middle and end. It is full of flashbacks and at times it could be hard to tell what was a flashback and what wasn't. Another reason this was an art movie is because it was based on the Qin Emperors dream of uniting all of the dynasties. 
  2. The director makes this movie for everybody by including martial arts in it. Another way he does this is by making the characters in the film able to connect with some people.
  3. I didn't like this movie because I would have preferred that it was in English. Another reason was that the "flying" ruined the fight scenes. Furthermore it seemed too repetitive with it going back and showing the different re-tells of how he killed the assassins.
  4. Zhang Yimou used colour to emphasize the fight in the Golden Forest when Broken Sword's assistant, Moon, died the leaves all changed from a golden yellow to a blood red.
